Jim Piovarchy
Base Site Coordinator, STAT MedEvac 5
Jim began his nursing career with a long-term
goal of becoming a flight nurse. After graduating from Shadyside School of
Nursing, he started working for Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in their ICU
department and for Uniontown Ambulance Service. When he had gained enough
experience he moved on to STAT MedEvac and became a flight nurse.
In addition to his flight nurse duties of caring for critically ill and/or
injured patients, Jim is responsible for the day-to-day activities at MedEvac 5,
which includes creating the flight crew’s schedules and handling any issues that
may arise at the base site. Jim enjoys working for STAT MedEvac because of their
reputation in the air medical industry, the state-of-the-art aircraft, and
STAT’s progressive and aggressive care for their patients.
Outside of work, Jim enjoys hunting, fishing, and shooting sports. He is also a
member of Ducks Unlimited, which is an organization that “conserves, restores,
and manages wetlands and associated habitats for North America’s waterfowl.”
