It’s grilling season! It’s the best time of the year to get outside and cook some delicious food on the grill, but a recent statistic found that July is the peak month for grill fires. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, an average of 22,155 patients per year go to the emergency room because of injuries involving grills. Firework Safety Tips

 

It’s that time of the year again… firework season! While fireworks are a fun summer tradition, fireworks have led to a heavy amount of summer injuries. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, more than 10,000 firework-related injuries were treated in emergency rooms in the U.S. last year, including 11 firework-related deaths. There are many precautions that should be taken when it comes to keeping yourself and others safe while setting them off. Here are some helpful tips to keep your summer gatherings safe:  

  • Close adult supervision is required for older children and their handling of fireworks.  
  • Younger children shouldn’t be in close contact with fireworks. 
  • Never use fireworks under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  
  • Never light fireworks indoors or in the close presence of other people, buildings, or flammable material.

What’s your morning routine look like? Most would say that it involves pouring themselves a cup of coffee. Sometimes even two or three, depending on the morning and needing that extra energy, but as we’ve heard in the past and continue to study, caffeine is something we should tread lightly with. Since March is Caffeine Awareness Month, now would be a good time to discuss, how much is too much? 

Based on studies, up to 400 milligrams of caffeine a day is safe for most healthy adults. That is four cups of coffee, ten cans of cola or two energy drinks a day, all depending on the caffeine content per beverage.
